Peter's first experience with the American way of life occurred when he was a child. His father worked as a civil engineer also designing US military installations after World War II. This brought him in close contact with American military families and his desire to travel to the U.S. was stimulated. This he did in his late teens and so began his thirst for more knowledge and contact with Americans and the United States. Back in Germany, his love of reading and studying foreign cultures crystallized into his study of international law in Marburg/Germany and then in Cambridge/England, which he finished with a Ph.D. in Comparative Law. Later, his burgeoning international law practice and fatherhood sidelined any chance of permanently moving to the U.S. During this time he took every opportunity he could to visit and finally, in 1998 he was able to locate to the U.S. Having lived and traveled throughout Europe and the U.S., Peter's secret to successful transitions is simple: enjoy it. He is the type to jump right in and get involved in the local community. "No matter what road you choose in life, you can make the most of it if you are willing to learn, as life is a constant learning process", Peter says.
